United Way Volunteer Opportunity Column for Week of April 11

United Way of Inner Wisconsin’s Volunteer Center promotes the volunteer needs of local non-profit organizations in both south Wood and Adams Counties on a weekly basis. Here is how you can get involved and volunteer for these great organizations.
Aspirus Riverview Hospital- Gift Shop Clerk: Description:
Hours: 3 ½ hour shifts
9:30 AM-1:00 PM
1:00 PM-4:30 PM
Monday thru Friday
Volunteers may work as many shifts as they like in a month, most usually will work 1 or 2 shifts a month.
Duties may include: Greeting customers, helping customers select merchandise, checking out the customers’ purchases. Basic knowledge of adding machine, credit card machine and basic computer operation is helpful. The volunteer will be trained by the person in charge of training and after being trained, the manager will be available for any extra help they may need. If you like talking to people and working in an environment where you have the opportunity to make a person’s day just a little better just by listening or possibly selling them something as a gift to make someone else’s day a little better, then I believe we are the place for you.
VolunTeens: Teenagers 16 and older greet and direct patients and visitors. Shifts are from 4-6pm or 4-8pm weekdays and/or four hour shifts between 8am to 8pmweekends, as fits your schedule.
Patient Escort Volunteers: Monday through Friday a volunteer is needed to assist patients being discharged from Aspirus Riverview Hospital, including via wheelchair. The volunteer is also called upon to perform various other tasks such as; escorting families and visitors, delivering documents and newspapers.
Volunteer Greeter: Monday through Friday a volunteer is needed to man Aspirus Riverview Hospital’s main lobby Information Desk. The volunteer will be responsible in making an excellent first impression for our customers presenting at the Information Desk and the lobby area. They will provide and maintain good communication and customer service practices in the area. The volunteer is also called upon to perform various other tasks such as: register persons for classes offered by the Health Promotion department, keep track of lost and found items, accept floral deliveries, and provide patient room numbers to visitors.
Emergency Department Volunteer: A volunteer is needed on Saturdays and Sundays to assist the Emergency Services Department staff. The volunteer will help with greeting, intake and customer service to Emergency Room patients and visitors. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, interacting with relatives and friends of patients, facilitating communication between providers and family members, and providing escorting service to patients, families, and visitors throughout the medical complex.
