Community invited to National Night Out
For the Rapids City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – On Aug. 7, community members throughout the Wisconsin Rapids area are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 35th Annual National Night Out, crime and drug prevention event.
National Night Out will unite 16,500 communities from all 50 states – over 38.5 million people – in “America’s Night Out Against Crime”.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Residents are invited to join local law enforcement on Aug. 7, 5:30-7 p.m., in the parking lot of Crossview Church for food, activities, and fun. There will be vehicle displays, demonstrations, Safe Assured ID Kits, and kids’ activities.
