Shirley M. Thompson-Pfender
Shirley M. Thompson-Pfender, age 83, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Thursday, January 17, 2019 at her residence with her family by her side.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Robert Schaller will officiate, burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Church on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 AM.
Shirley was born July 22, 1935 in Wisconsin Rapids to James and Aurillia (Kehrberg) Dillingham. She married Robert Thompson on August 18, 1956, he died October 11, 1992. Shirley married Charles Pfender on October 9, 2010 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She was employed at Fey Publishing in Wisconsin Rapids for over 40 years. Shirley enjoyed country music, dancing, clog dancing, writing poetry for books of Anthology for which she received several awards. She also enjoyed going to the casino with her family. She especially enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and helping them with their CCD work.
Shirley is survived by her husband Charles Pfender of Wausau, children: Marc Thompson of Wisconsin Rapids, Jane (Jim) Oprisko of Texas, Cindy Thompson of New London, Linda (Jay Billmeyer) Woollums of Neenah, Tammy (Troy) Von Loh of Nekoosa, Lori (Randy) Kundinger of Wisconsin Rapids, Teri (Wade) Van Ert of Wisconsin Rapids, Lisa Thompson of Wisconsin Rapids, step-children: Judy (Vince) Alber of Two Rivers, Robert (Linda) Pfender of Wausau, 26 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, brother Richard Dillingham of Wisconsin Rapids, sisters: Mildred (Jerry) Freeberg of Wisconsin Rapids, Stella Rude of Wisconsin Rapids, Nancy Dillingham of Wausau, sister-in-law Donna Dillingham of Wisconsin Rapids and is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Thompson, sons Michael and Robert Thompson, brothers Patrick and Norman Dillingham, sisters Marjorie Dillingham, Marie Dillingham, Elsie (Chuck) Kohl, Bernice Sweeney and Ruth Timm.
