In January, the Elks began a new fundraiser that will benefit the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department. The department is looking to raise $65,000 for the purchase of another K-9 officer, along with needed equipment. Sergeant Dean Fleisner recently brought K-9 officer, Lex, to a meet and greet at the Wisconsin Rapids Elks Lodge. The club is running a fish fry each Friday through the end of February to benefit the department. Future events will be announced after the Lenten season. Submitted photo.
