Nekoosa Church to Host 13th Annual Quilt Show on March 11

The Nekoosa United Church of Christ is hosting its 13th Annual Quilt Show on Saturday March 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The show is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by the Nekoosa UCC Women United.
Members of the Material Girls, Quilt Orphans, Common Thread Quilters, and Thimbleberries will enter quilts, as well as many other quilters in the community that may not belong to a quilt group. Quilts of all sizes, including wall hangings, table runners, bags, other miscellaneous quilted items, and quilts in progress will be displayed.
Those attending the show will vote on a “Viewer’s Choice” in six categories:
1) Wall hanging
2) Baby crib quilt
3) Throw
4) Bed quilt
5) Miscellaneous
6) Youth (18 and under)
Our special display this year is titled “Cherished Children’s Treasures”. Items such as vintage or antique baby quilts, handmade dolls, doll blankets, doll clothes, baby clothes, cloth books, stuffed animals or other “toys” (handmade, vintage or antique).
Hospice Memory Bears (made by Ministry Memory Bear Program for Hospice) and Palliative Comfort Care Quilts (made by The Material Girls) will also be featured. Cheryl Emery of Pine Tree Fabrics –Reedsburg, will be a vendor and offer fabric, patterns and kits for sale.
The Nekoosa UCC Women United group has been making quilts to give to charity organizations or to someone in need for over forty years. They tie quilts at the church on a regular basis. Some of their quilts and other miscellaneous items will be available for purchase the day of the show.
A light lunch will be available.
