A 27-year-old man is charged with selling heroin after police say they found heroin, cocaine, and marijuana on his property.
Dwayne Fields, of Wisconsin Rapids, is charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of narcotics, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
According to police reports, on Jul 25, 2014 a search warrant was issued for a residence on the 700 block of 10th Ave. North, identified as Fields’ residence. During the search warrant, the detective found a leafy substance believed to be marijuana beside a table.
A K-9 unit was brought to perform an exterior sniff of Fields’ vehicle and indicated the presence of controlled substances inside the vehicle. Inside the trunk the detective discovered a pill bottle containing multiple baggies with white powder believed to be cocaine. Later substance tests would confirm the presence of cocaine.
Inside the pill bottle the detective also found three bags of marijuana, as well as aluminum wrapped bindles containing a substance believed to be heroin. Substance tests would later confirm the presence of marijuana and heroin.
Further investigation of cellular phones and text messages used by Fields led officers and detectives to believe Fields’ intent was to sell these substances. It is also noted that these substances were located less than one thousand feet away from an early childhood school.
Fields faces up to 15 years imprisonment and up to $50,000 in fines. His sentencing hearing on Feb. 26 has been rescheduled and a date is pending.
